Skills Development Program on EV Systems Design
Ananda A, VTS Ballari Institute of Technology & Management Student Branch Chapter Chair

The IEEE Student Branch of Ballari Institute of Technology & Management (BITM) (STB10169), in association with the IEEE VTS BITM Student Branch Chapter and the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), successfully organized a skills development program from 6–7 November 2025 entitled “Designing Electric Vehicle Systems and Simulation using MATLAB” at BITM, Bellary, India.

The program was organized under the guidance of Abdul Lateef Haroon PS, Branch Counselor, IEEE Student Branch BITM and Faculty Advisor, IEEE VTS BITM Student Chapter. The event received strong support from Sharana Reddy, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, BITM.

Expert sessions were conducted by Dr. Debanand Singdeo, Senior Engineer, MathWorks India Pvt. Ltd., and Dr. Riyaz A. Rahiman, Senior Application Engineer for MathWorks products at CoreEL Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore. The two-day workshop provided in-depth learning on model-based design, EV architecture, motor modeling, DC motor speed control, power electronics, and system simulation using MATLAB and Simscape.

Dr. Riyaz A. Rahiman leads participants through EV design concepts, encouraging collaborative learning and problem-solving.

The program saw active participation from both students and faculty members, serving as an important skills development initiative that enhanced technical competency and practical understanding in the field of electric vehicle systems.

Dr. Debanand Singdeo is congratulated by Dr. B. S. Khened, Vice Principal BITM, along with Dr. Sharan Reddy, HOD- Dept of EEE, Dr. Abdul Lateef Haroon P S, and Dr. Riyaz A. Rahiman, during the IEEE VTS Skills Development Program.

Following the success of this event, the IEEE Student Branch BITM and the VTS BITM Student Chapter are planning an electric vehicle design competition in February 2026. This competition will offer participants an opportunity to apply their skills, showcase innovation, and promote advancements in sustainable electric vehicle design.
